As creatives, our purpose is to solve problems in a way that is not only visually pleasing but also with a clear and intentional logic behind it.
Therefore, when we were approached by Turned Yellow, an illustration studio that creates customised Simpsons’ style caricatures, we had our work cut out for us. We were particularly challenged as this was a completely different type of project and therefore the way of planning and thinking. Specifically, our thinking had to shift from high-intensity short term projects to a much more sustained and long term project. This became our purpose for this project – to be adaptable in our approach and workflow; followed by understanding and reproducing the traditional Simpsons style throughout the illustrations.
This is key to successfully working your way through your project – understanding the purpose of your brief and how you work as a creative. This will then give you the ability to be adaptable to any given brief or idea.
