With the recent boom in e-commerce and online marketing, entities are competing against each other less and less. What is the best way to advertise across a network, something to really grab your audience’s attention away from others? Well, in the video industry, there is an emerging force that’s packing a punch throughout advertising. It represents the fresh attitude of the younger audience, presenting a new generation of ideas. The use of animation and visual effects cost less than live action productions. Compared with traditional advertising, the production pipeline is shorter, therefore generally making it more cost effective. Compared with other forms of advertising, animation is far more flexible. A stylised image is much easier for the audience to remember than a real person, as well as the promotional content is easily remembered through stylised characters or episodes. Animated characters can show interesting visual effects, plots, and actions than cannot be achieved by real people. These exaggerated performances are more likely to attract the audience and be memorable enough to achieve its’ promotional purpose. In terms of affinity, animated characters are easier to be accepted. As their design can be unrestricted, it can be accepted by different groups. For example, a cute cartoon image can be used to promote children’s products across different groups of people. Due to these ads short running times, they must creatively come up with ways to impress and attract the audience’s attention quickly. Therefore, exaggerated, stylised animated ads have inherent advantages, especially for those without the opportunity to produce live action footage.
Modifiability and durability
Animated characters are timeless. It can be used as a company brand promotion, and stored in the company’s platform for long-term use. Animated ads have great advantages in terms of flexibility and durability. Animated styles can better present the brand, as many business brands cannot be created through real people. Traditional commercials are limited by technical issues if you want to modify after the shooting is completed. However, the production of animation can be controlled and modified as needed without the need to adjust by shooting again, and therefore is far more convenient. Animation is unrestricted, it is not limited by time, space, location, conditions and objects. It’s flexible, artistic and exaggerated. It can achieve all kinds of effects that real footage cannot, and meet the need of creative designers.
